For the past three years, I have been teaching Spanish in the UK. From this experience, I have learned that being an effective tutor requires more than simply being a native speaker with strong cultural knowledge. My background as a qualified journalist and a History graduate gives me an academic and cultural perspective, but just as important is knowing how to adapt lessons to each learner’s goals and style. I like to make my classes lively and engaging. Students learn best when lessons are interactive, so I incorporate discussions around modern cultural topics, traditions, and contemporary issues such as politics, the environment, and migration. For A-level students, I also weave in key elements of Spanish history and current affairs. To bring lessons to life, I use a variety of resources, including images, videos, articles, and online content. Motivating students and supporting their progress is central to my approach. I aim to help learners believe in their abilities and grow more confident when speaking Spanish. My teaching style combines patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm, while creating a safe space where students feel supported. I take pride in being approachable, responsible, and attentive. My goal is always to guide each learner toward achieving their potential, making the journey of learning Spanish both enjoyable and rewarding.

Since my daughter started learning with Martina, her confidence in Spanish has grown enormously. She has developed her skills, made real progress, and feels much better prepared for her GCSE exams. Martina is an excellent tutor, and our only wish is that we had found her sooner.

Martina is a fantastic tutor who combines enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching.
